Yes. All books are books.
No! Digital/ebooks are okay.
Yes, it can just be a book. No, you don’t need add-ons. But we recommend some sort of add ons because they perform really well with backers.
Yes, the backers are getting something free! We want to incentivize backers backing multiple (or all) campaigns. You will be partnered (by choice, where possible) with another campaign, and if a backer backs your campaign and your partner’s campaign, and both of you fund (reach your goal), the backer will receive a free thing from both of your campaigns. That means that on top of their normal rewards, backers get bonus rewards. The more campaigns a backer backs, the more things they’ll get.
Here’s an example:
Campaign A is publishing a book
Campaign B is publishing a book
Campaign A and campaign B are partnered!
Campaign A is offering a pin as a collab bonus
Campaign B is offering a bookmark as a collab bonus
Backer backs both campaigns and they reach funding goal, backer received book from campaign A, book from campaign b, pin, and bookmark
No.
No AI. Pay an artist.
Put it in your crowdfunding budget and pay an artist.
Yes! Books is books.
No. They’ll be providing some support including tools, but it is run by a small group of indies interested in seeing everyone succeed.
Yes!
We will be launching November 12th and ending December 3rd.
You would fulfill the same way you would during a normal BackerKit, IndieGoGo, or Kickstarter campaign. You are responsible for your own fulfillment and for fulfilling collab rewards as well. There will be a tool available to help identify backers who backed both partner campaigns, don’t worry.
Run and promote a campaign within the same time period that publishes a book of some sort. Help promote the event as a whole. Contribute to the collab freebie. Make awesome books.
We are looking to have a minimum of 25 campaigns, and probably will max out around 50 if there is a big number of applicants.
No! Cross promotion raises us all up, and the goal is to see 100% of projects funded, which is absolutely possible given BackerKit’s group collab history.
Here’s a few ideas:
– Physical edition (First time publishing the title, never published a physical copy before, etc!)
– Special edition (Fancy version of a previously published book)
– Series edition (Multiple previously published books put together into one large book)
– Anthology
– Art book
– Audiobook
– eBook
– Zine
– TTRPG
– Comic/graphic novel
– Funding for an entire year’s worth of publishing for a zine/indie publishing house/etc
– Funding to write a book, get a book illustrated, or get a book edited
There’s way more options out there but there’s a few ideas!
Things that are against BackerKit’s terms of service, for one. Things promoting hateful ideology, for example, will not be allowed. Again, I can’t stress this enough, no AI.
We will be closing applications at the beginning of July.
